Get involved with BID

Okehampton BID is moving forward
We need extra hands to drive momentum

We are much more than a voluntary Board of Directors and a BID Manager.

Like other BIDs up and down the country, we have a vision of a wider, connected network of local businesses working together. The Board provides direction, our BID Manager keeps things moving day to day, and around them sit Working Groups and Ambassadors who bring ideas, energy, and real-world insight into projects. This wider structure is what turns plans into action, ensuring the BID is shaped by the businesses it represents and delivers practical, visible results across the town.

We have listened, and are prepared to initiate and deliver projects as they are identified and agreed. From town architecture issues, promotion and events to business support, training, and practical improvements. And that hinges on the community getting involved.

There are a few simple ways you can play a part:

Become a BID Board Director
We can have up to 12 voluntary Directors and are now looking to strengthen the Board with another 6.

This role helps guide how levy money is used and keeps the BID focused, fair, and accountable. You do not need previous board experience. Just a balanced view, a willingness to listen, and a genuine interest in the future of Okehampton.

Join a Working Group (or lead one)
We already have projects ready to go. They just need people to help shape and deliver them.

Working Groups are small and focused. You can contribute ideas, support delivery, or step up to lead a group and help keep things moving. A practical way to make a difference without a big time commitment.

Become a BID Ambassador
If you are well-connected locally, this is about sharing information, giving honest feedback, and being a trusted voice within the business community. No meetings required. Just helping keep communication open and grounded.

Why this matters
The BID works to get ongoing funding and has a plan. But the strength of it comes from how many businesses are involved. The more voices around the table, the better the decisions, and the more value we can deliver across the town.
